First look at Captain America 4 also reveals a new title

In our first official behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Captain America film, Anthony Mackie reveals that the movie has a new name.

Mackie, who plays Captain America in the film (after his character, Sam Wilson, inherited the title from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers), posted a photo to his of himself in-costume chatting with Harrison Ford to his Instagram page. Ford is playing Thunderbolt Ross, taking over for the late William Hurt.

“When Harrison Ford tells you how kicking ass should look, you listen! LoL… Thanks for the on set wisdom and laughs my friend! Can’t wait to do it again… Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World in theaters May 3, 2024,” Mackie writes in the post. This is the first time we’ve seen a new title for the film. The backs of the chairs in the photo are also emblazoned with the new logo.

The title change shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, since the film’s original title, Captain America: New World Order, is tied up in a bit of controversy. The phrase “new world order” has been used in many conspiracy theories focusing on a secret totalitarian government operating behind the scenes, and is often used to spread anti-semitic rhetoric. It’s not clear why Marvel Studios thought the title was a good idea in the first place, but it’s nice to know they’ve changed it up.

Besides the title change, Mackie’s post also provides the first official look at Captain America’s newest costume, which is mostly a navy blue colour and looks to be inspired by the suit Steve Rogers wears at the beginning of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This suit appears to be a lot more simple than the comic-inspired costume from the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

A new costume, of course, means a new minifigure – and it’s likely that Captain America: Brave New World will have at least one tie-in LEGO set. Most MCU films as of late have had one to three sets, and the last Captain America movie in 2016 had four. It’ll be exciting to see more from the film as the May 3, 2024 release date approaches so that we can get a better idea of what the LEGO sets would look like.
