Colossal LEGO FIFA World Cup Trophy unveiled in New York

The LEGO Group has revealed a 1,363,402-piece LEGO trophy right in the heart of New York to celebrate the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.

As part of the ongoing collaboration with FIFA for the World Cup, the colossal trophy model has been unveiled at Rockefeller Plaza, marking the official opening of the LEGO Fan Zone in the area. At 8.47 metres high, the model took a team of 59 experts 7,040 hours to put together, over the course of eight months.

Former FIFA World Cup winner Cafu was on hand at the ceremony to help reveal the giant trophy, alongside fans representing the nations still competing in the tournament. The installation is the largest mobile LEGO build to exist and the biggest FIFA World Cup trophy to date.

“The FIFA World Cup Trophy is one of the most iconic symbols in sport, and seeing it recreated on this scale with LEGO bricks is truly incredible," Cafu said.

"The craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail are remarkable. Football has always been about bringing people together. Whether you're playing in the street, cheering from the stands or watching with family and friends, it is one of the greatest tools for social inclusion in the world. And this installation is a fantastic way to celebrate that spirit ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final stages.”

A 3.5-tonne steel structure supports the build, and it was constructed in 16 sections to enable transportation and rapid installation. The heaviest of these was around 2,000kg.

"The FIFA World Cup Trophy is one of the most recognisable symbols in sport, and it has been incredible to see it brought to life in LEGO form at every scale — from the LEGO FIFA World Cup Trophy set to this giant 8-metre-tall replica in New York City. We hope the Fan Zone gives fans a place to connect, create and celebrate together, while sharing in the excitement and joy of the tournament's final stages."

Minifigures of other iconic football players line the base of the installation, to be found in official sets including 43011 Lionel Messi – Football Highlights, 43012 Cristiano Ronaldo – Football Highlights, 43013 Kylian Mbappé – Football Highlights, and 43027 Vini Jr. – Football Highlights.

The LEGO FIFA World Cup Trophy big build and LEGO Fan Zone will be open to the public at Rockefeller Plaza, New York City, from July 6 to 19. Entry is free, and you can take home your own LEGO trophy with either 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy or the smaller 43032 FIFA World Cup 2026 Official Emblem.
