Early discounts on latest LEGO Technic releases

Score early discounts on the very latest LEGO Technic sets at GAME, including the newly-released space range and its spaceship, rover and orrery.

Can’t wait to get your hands on the newest and most interesting LEGO Technic sets in a good long while? No worries: GAME is already offering 20% off the March 2024 wave for Frasers Plus members. That includes everything from the entry-level 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78 all the way up to the monolithic 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover, as well as the latest motorcycle and race car.

You’ll need to be a Frasers Plus member to score these prices. GAME’s membership scheme offers the opportunity to spread the cost of your purchases across three months with 0% interest, or you can settle the balance in full straight away. You’ll need to apply to the program and acceptance depends on your credit status, but this is not a bad way for savvy and responsible shoppers to make some early savings on new LEGO sets.

The best way to take advantage of a deal like this is by signing up, ordering your sets and then paying your balance in full straight away (so as to completely avoid incurring any interest after the initial three-month period). It’s effectively the same as shopping with a debit card, only with a couple of extra steps – you’re still only using your available budget rather than taking on credit to pay back later – and unlocks discounts you won’t find anywhere else right now.

Remember that not paying the balance in full within three months will mean racking up interest, so we can only recommend using the Frasers Plus scheme if you have the capital available for these sets right now – otherwise you’re not going to be getting much of a deal. Check out the early discounts on these brand new LEGO Technic March 2024 sets below.

LEGO Technic 42169 NEOM McLaren Formula E Team

The LEGO Group is going all out on Formula 1 in 2024, but it hasn’t forgotten the world’s foremost electric car championship. 42169 NEOM McLaren Formula E Team marks the 10th anniversary of the very first championship race, held in Beijing in September 2014, recreating the papaya orange race car with 452 pieces. It usually retails for £46.99, but Frasers Plus members can pick it up for just £37.

LEGO Technic 42170 Kawasaki Ninja H2R

Looking for the next mid-range LEGO Technic motorcycle to add to your garage? Put pedal to the metal with 42170 Kawasaki Ninja H2R, a 1:8-scale model that packs in steering, suspension, a two-speed gearbox and a four-piston articulated engine. That’s a lot of bang for your buck at just £56 for Frasers Plus members, down from the set’s original RRP of £69.99.

LEGO Technic 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78

This year sees LEGO Technic venture into space with a range of original, fictional vehicles, starting with the entry-level 42178 Surface Space Loader LT78 for just £24 for Frasers Plus members (or £29.99 for everyone else). Don’t let its small price tag fool you, though: there’s a lot going on here, including steering, a functioning crane and a moving operator’s cab.

LEGO Technic 42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit

Perhaps the most unusual LEGO Technic set in recent memory – which is to say, one that’s not a vehicle – 42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit offers something very different for a theme traditionally anchored to cars, trucks, bikes and construction machinery. This is another one that usually retails for £69.99, but can be bought by Frasers Plus members for only £56 right now.

LEGO Technic 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover

Frasers Plus members can save a tasty £26 on the biggest new LEGO Technic space set at the moment, bringing 42180 Mars Crew Exploration Rover down to just £104. For your money, you’ll get a 1,599-piece rover that can expand to reveal its truck bed or contract for manoeuvring unfamiliar terrain, complete with working suspension. Other functions include a working crane and lift, along with details such as full living quarters for the model’s would-be crew.

LEGO Technic 42181 VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81

42181 VTOL Heavy Cargo Spaceship LT81 dreams big, and realises its ambitions across a laundry list of functions and details. Packed into the 1,365-piece model are a mini space rover that can be picked up using the ship’s extending claw; retractable landing gear and rotating engines for vertical take-off; and a self-levelling cockpit that’s perfect for swooshing. You can pick it up for just £72 if you’re a Frasers Plus member – a 20% saving on its £89.99 RRP.

These are great prices for sets that launched less than a month ago, but remember to shop responsibly when using any credit product like Frasers Plus.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
