Early LEGO games developer gifts revealed

A retired developer from TT Games has revealed the team’s gifts for the early LEGO games before the familiar minifigure bricks were debuted.

Kevin Edwards has shared some keepsakes from his career at TT Games over on Twitter, including a vast collection of minifigure bricks, the gifts given to the team featuring a minifigure at the end of development. However, his career dates back to before their debut and the item that came before these gifts has been revealed.

Before the bricks with a relevant minifigure inside, the team would receive a mounted disc with the developer’s name, with examples showcased including the first LEGO Star Wars titles. Eventually, these were replaced by the familiar bricks with a second tweet from Edwards showcasing a notable collection of the gifts.

In the comments, Edwards also shares that the minifigure pieces for these bricks come directly from the LEGO Group with Podium Designs then putting the gifts together in the brick and packaging them. It’s interesting to know how these gifts have changed and are produced.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
