Ed Sheeran surprised fans at LEGO Store Mall of America
Ed Sheeran’s shift at the LEGO Store Mall of America included box signings, a singing gig, and a special minifigure giveaway.
Complete with a LEGO employee yellow apron, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran spent a day working at the LEGO Store Mall of America, signing sets for fans and advising them on what to buy, as shown in this video shared by the LEGO Group. His recommendation to one fan was LEGO Icons 10305 Lion Knights Castle, instead by remembering back to his childhood when he and his brother had “a tiny wizard’s set”.
As well as helping customers out inside the store, Sheeran also flourished his other talents just outside the store, getting his guitar out for a performance for those visiting the Mall of America. While we can’t quite hear what songs he played, we’d imagine LEGO House had to feature.
As well as signing existing sets, Sheeran had an exclusive minifigure to hand out. The elements are fairly basic, with the only thing of note is the specially-printed torso with ‘Autumn is coming’ printed on it. This is a hint at Sheeran’s upcoming new album releasing in the autumn, that is believed to be called Autumn Moments – although, from the wording on the minifigure, perhaps it will simply be Autumn.
“That was super fun,” concluded Sheeran at the end of his day at the LEGO Store Mall of America. “I’ve got a bunch of these Autumn is coming minifigures and I’m going to be giving them out at the gig. See you in a bit!”
The gig in question saw Sheeran perform in Minneapolis’ US Bank Stadium as part of his The Mathematics Tour, with a more intimate performance at the State Theater ahead of time. It’s unclear how many minfigures were handed out at the gig, with thousands of people flocking to see the signer perform.
