LEGO Pokémon pre-orders sell out, but there's still a chance

Three days after pre-orders opened for the first LEGO Pokémon minifigure sets, one has completely sold out worldwide, but it can still be yours at launch.

LEGO Pokémon's five new sets include the first two with minifigures based on the iconic franchise. While one of these models has three two widely-recognisable characters, the other is much more niche in nature. However, it's the latter that has sold out worldwide.

72168 Rayquaza's pre-orders are now sold out across the UK, US, Europe and several other regions, forecasting high demand for the smaller of the two LEGO Pokémon minifigure sets.

To be fair to 72168 Rayquaza, it is smaller and therefore more affordable than 72154 Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball. It also received more positive reactions from fans following its reveal. However, some of its contents are more niche.

While Rayquaza itself is iconic and likely a main part of the appeal for this build, Zinnia and the Sky Pillar base aren't quite as immediately recognisable to a mainstream audience. Despite this, the demand for 72168 Rayquaza is immense, and it is the only one of the five new LEGO Pokémon sets to sell out. It will set you back £119.99 / $129.99 / €129.99 when it launches on August 1.

Part of the appeal for 72168 Rayquaza may be explained by the current LEGO Insiders Days promotions. £119.99 / $129.99 / €129.99 would have been well on the way to the threshold for a free 40912 Sea Serpent, before it sold out worldwide, too.

The only LEGO Insiders Days 2026 gift remaining online is 5010053 Airplane, available with Creator 3-in-1, City or Friends orders above £90 / $100 / €100. There's a silver lining to this story, since UK fans can still secure a copy of the popular 72168 Rayquaza for launch day.
