Every LEGO set available from August 1, 2023

Dozens of new LEGO sets are now available to order online, across themes including Star Wars, Marvel, LEGO Icons, Architecture, DREAMZzz and more.

More than 60 new sets have just gone live in the UK and Europe, while a further 14 LEGO City sets are also launching in the US and Canada for the first time in August (having first released in other territories, including the UK and Europe, in June). Among those are the debut of three new themes – Sonic the Hedgehog, DREAMZzz and Gabby’s Dollhouse – and the continuation of some of the LEGO Group’s best-selling lines, including Technic, Icons and Architecture.

LEGO Architecture August 2023 sets

LEGO Architecture’s sole 2023 set (so far, but probably altogether) heads east with 21060 Himeji Castle, recreating the Japanese fortress across 2,125 pieces. If you’re in the market for a sophisticated display model, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Two new LEGO Art sets are available now, and both toy with the familiar format of the theme in new and refreshing ways. 31210 Modern Art embraces the unique palette of, well, modern art, placing the emphasis on creativity, while 31209 The Amazing Spider-Man sees the web-slinger crawling out of the frame.

If you’re still playing LEGO 2K Drive (and you should be: it’s just received a much-needed update), you can now enjoy the racing game in the real world with three new tie-in LEGO City sets. These modular builds offer unique ways to customise your cars however you see fit, both within and between different sets.

LEGO Classic August 2023 sets

Next time you hear someone complaining that the LEGO Group only sells specialist kits these days, point them in the direction of LEGO Classic, which is still happily churning out boxes of basic bricks in increasingly useful colours. The latest of those is 11032 Creative Color Fun, which includes 1,500 pieces for just £63.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 August 2023 sets

A trio of brand new LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets are available now, including the theme’s biggest set of all time in 31141 Main Street. But top of your list should be 31142 Space Roller Coaster, which offers a more manageable fairground ride than last summer’s toweringly impractical 10303 Loop Coaster – and with a very cool theme pasted on top.

LEGO DC / LEGO Batman August 2023 sets

After a fallow year for DC Comics in 2022, LEGO Batman is finally back – and he’s bringing the Joker with him. We wish we could say he was also bringing a legion of other DC superheroes and supervillains with him, but… alas. Still, you can take your pick of three different ways to get your hands on the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime, from a Batmobile and Batwing to… another Batmobile. Hmm.

Following months of build-up and the premiere of an entire TV show, the LEGO Group’s newest big bang theme is finally on shelves. An initial wave of 11 different LEGO DREAMZzz sets encompasses all manner of wacky concepts and zany models, so if it’s creativity and imagination you’re after, look no further.

LEGO Icons August 2023 sets

The LEGO Group’s sole range geared entirely around adults, LEGO Icons is usually the first theme to check out come new release day. And you won’t be disappointed this month, as its two new sets both look like corkers: 10321 Corvette delivers an even better Chevy than last summer’s Camaro, while 10315 Tranquil Garden offers a perfect blend of Architecture and the Botanical Collection (and is also minifigure-scale!).

What’s the matter – never seen Groot playing host to a symbiote before? Well, neither had we until 76249 Venomised Groot came along. It’s a wacky play on last summer’s 76217 I am Groot that risk being overshadowed this month, but only because there are a couple of other heavy hitters joining the LEGO Marvel line-up – not least in 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle…

Four new LEGO Minecraft sets are out now for those gamers still happy to build in the real world as well as on screens, offering blocky renditions of in-game characters, locations and objects across a range of different price points. Something for everyone, then.

LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog August 2023 sets

The blue blur has raced beyond the confines of last year’s 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone to star in his own theme, which sees five brand new playsets zoom on to shelves from today. They’re mostly anchored around a fun slammer gimmick that sees the video game character race around his respective courses, in contrast to the former 18+ Ideas set.

LEGO Star Wars August 2023 sets

Almost every wave of LEGO Star Wars sets offers nothing if not variety, and the same can absolutely be said about August 2023’s line-up. Its eight new products run the gamut from a battle pack and mechs to vehicles and playsets, drawing on The Clone Wars, the original trilogy and The Mandalorian.

The LEGO Group has passed up the opportunity to introduce a fourth digital figure for its LEGO Super Mario range, but in its place is Donkey Kong, a rideable character who offers a new way for Mario, Luigi and Peach to traverse the theme’s interactive courses.

LEGO Technic August 2023 sets

Two new LEGO Technic CONTROL+ sets are out now (alongside a smaller Lambo), one of which also happens to be the theme’s most expensive model of all time. 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000 is an absolute beast as a result, which you can read more about in our review.
