12 new LEGO minifigures based on Shrek are coming this September, and here's every new piece you can find and collect in the series.
71053 Shrek includes 12 fresh minifigures based on the iconic animated movies, from Shrek to Merlin and much more. So many new characters to the LEGO portfolio need an assortment of fresh elements.
While we wait for the new minifigures to launch in September, here's a closer look at absolutely all of the new pieces in 71053 Shrek.
Animal accessories
Animals are popular picks for minifigure accessories in series, usually using a new piece. While many of the animals in Shrek are full-blown characters, they are still on the smaller side and therefore function best as accessories.
You'll find two new animal accessory elements in 71053 Shrek, neither of which is likely to be versatile enough to be used elsewhere. These would be a tiny blind mouse mould with a built-in cane and Donkey.
Hair and headwear
71053 Shrek is similar to other minifigure series in that headwear and hair make up many of the new elements in the range. There's only one new hair piece for Fairy Godmother's style.
There are two new headwear pieces in the form of Farquad's oversized hat, as well as Thelonius' executioner hood. The latter seems likely to appear elsewhere with all kinds of different prints. It's perfect for ghosts, masked characters, and more.
Character-specific heads
The vast majority of the new pieces in 71053 Shrek are for character-specific heads. This includes ogre head sculpts for Shrek and Fiona, both of which could, in theory, be used for other ogre characters such as their children. Big Bad Wolf in the grandma disguise has a new head too, and don't expect to see this element anywhere else.
Dragon and Pinocchio have similarly specific elements for their heads, and Pinocchio has an extended nose similar to the LEGO Disney Pinocchio minifigure.
Gingy has a new head sculpt, despite there existing a LEGO gingerbread minifigure head sculpt. While the old head had a layered design with a filling in the middle, the new gingerbread head element is all one layer and has a hole for an accessory at the top.
