Every official LEGO roller coaster model ever made

With the reveal of LEGO ICONS 10303 Loop Coaster, it’s time to look at what other coasters the LEGO Group has made over the years.

The thrills of rollercoasters are nothing new to minifigures as sets featuring the rides have been in circulation since 2012, ranging from the likes of LEGO Batman all the way to the brand new 10303 Loop Coaster. Since that latter set has now been revealed, it seems only appropriate to recount the other official LEGO roller coasters.

For this list, we’ll only be including sets that are designed to be a roller coaster first, not any that use includes the coaster track elements or similar pieces to create a ride or similar thrilling experience.

1 – 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape

LEGO roller coasters date back to 2012 thanks to one of the earliest LEGO Batman sets. 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape included a simple coaster with a single drop but had good theming with a Harley Quinn train and opening doors featuring the Joker’s face.

2 – 41130 Amusement Park Roller Coaster

Just before the introduction of the LEGO roller coaster elements in 2017, Friends saw the release of 41130 Amusement Park Roller Coater the previous year with a space-based attraction that looped around the park. As appealing as the bright colour scheme is, it’s far from the most thrilling on this list.

3 – 70922 The Joker Manor

70922 The Joker Manor was the first model to include the current system of LEGO roller coaster track, as the villain decided to transform Wayne Manor into a funhouse of his own design, including a coaster travelling inside and out of the home.

4 – 41456 Unikingdom Fairground Fun

Coming from LEGO Unikitty next is a smaller coaster that featured one drop and a curve. It was also designed to be able to fit some of the theme’s brick-built figures rather than just minifigures.

5 – 31084 Pirate Roller Coaster

Releasing on the same day as one of the biggest LEGO roller coasters ever made, this pirate-based attraction featured a good mix of theming and thrills, complete with a fortress station with a control tower.

6 – 10261 Roller Coaster

As the largest LEGO roller coaster ever made in terms of piece count, 10261 Roller Coaster included two trains to run around the track, a winding course through the support structure and the option to motorise the build.

7 – 41375 Heartlake City Amusement Pier

We’re not sure what it is with the LEGO Group and pirate-based roller coasters but LEGO Friends’ second coaster applied the private formula to a ride again, featuring fewer thrills but taking minifigures inside a sunken ship.

8 – 40346 LEGOLAND

Representing several real roller coasters, 40346 LEGOLAND includes a recreation of The Dragon. This castle-themed coaster winds through the gates of a castle and a forest while guests ride on board a dragon.

9 – Carnival Thrill Coaster

As one of the least thrilling roller coasters on this list, 10771 Carnival Thrill Coaster was designed for younger hands to build, but it does include a camera for an on-ride photo.

10 – 70432 Haunted Fairground

Even Hidden Side includes a LEGO roller coaster as a haunted attraction from Happy World transported guests from the station down to an archway that comes to life.

11 – 66651 Roller Coaster

Though not a minifigure-scale coaster, this promotional item is worth a mention all the same for how it approaches the track using tiles and other smooth elements. The inclusion of a pizza stand near the entrance might also prompt minifigures to take a bite before riding.

12 – 41685 Magical Funfair Roller Coaster

The most recent roller coaster from LEGO Friends was inspired by magic tricks and illusions. Though the model featured many elements, the coaster itself only loops around the large stage as trains push obstacles out of the way.

13 – 10778 Mickey, Minnie and Goofy’s Fairground Fun

Mickey Mouse also has a roller coaster thanks to one of the latest LEGO Disney sets, though it only loops in a small circle before returning to the station.

14 – 10303 Loop Coaster

The newest LEGO roller coaster releases on July 5 as 10303 Loop Coaster is the tallest creation on this list and features not one, but two loops for the first time in a model. An elevator takes riders to the top of the tower before they race down the track and into the raised turns, eventually returning to the station to see their on-ride photos.
