First LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets have started to arrive
Although LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets were expected to start shipping in July, one lucky buyer at least already has their set in hand.
Despite rumours and anecdotal talk of emails with expected shipping dates in July for the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets, one lucky redditor has shared the arrival of 910029 Mountain Fortress on June 27, marking what must be one of the first deliveries of the long-awaited sets. Series 1 concluded in February with all but two of the fan-designed LEGO sets selling out. Ever since, those who secured one of the 30,000 possible pre-orders has been waiting for production to finish and the sets to ship.
“Tonight is going to be a SleeplessNight!” quipped the lucky recipient who goes by the name satchelsofgold on reddit, riffing on the name of the fan designer of the set. Others in the comments confirmed that their sets are still marked as on backorder, so if you haven’t had a shipping update yet, don’t worry: you’re likely still in the majority.
satchelsofgold is based in Belgium, leading some to speculate that European orders might ship faster than US ones. There’s no real evidence for that yet but it could be true, depending on if all LEGO BrickLink sets are being produced in the same place and then need to be shipped around the world. Indeed, one commenter wrote: “I attended a Bricklink Designer Program presentation at Brickworld Chicago and I can confirm this, all the BDP sets come out of Billund.”
All that is to say, the wait is likely soon over for those waiting on LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 sets.
