First reactions to Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania surface

The first reactions to Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania are here following its premiere, revealing praise for its Phase 5 villain.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania releases on February 17, 2023 – one week from the time of writing – and it will mark the cinema debut of Kang, first seen as a different variant in Loki.

Based on the title of the fifth Avengers film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Kang is going to be a major player in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Initial reactions to the third Ant-Man film, including one from Jamie Broadnaux, have praised Jonathan Major’s portrayal of the character, as well as confirmed that there are two post-credit scenes.

Broadnaux also compared the film to the likes of Star Wars, a sentiment that Erik Davis echoed while also mentioning the menacing nature of the antagonist.

Not all reactions were entirely positive as Courtney Howard noted a rough first act, but ended her impressions by praising Major’s performance as Kang too.

Appearing to take place mostly in the Quantum Realm, it would make sense for the film to introduce a lot of world-building elements as the brief glimpses of the realm in the past Ant-Man films have been arguably more abstract and driven by visuals as an introduction. According to Germain Lussier’s reaction, that’s precisely what the third film does.

The reactions mostly praise the portrayal of Kang and what Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is setting up, potentially a good start to the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, those not invited to the premiere don’t have too much longer to wait to see what the new Marvel Studios movie has in store as it is will be available to watch on February 17, 2023, in cinemas.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
