The LEGO Group and BrickLink have revealed all eight sets involved in the first round of crowdfunding for the BrickLink Designer Program.
While we already knew the shortlist of models included in the first of the three individual crowdfunding phases, this is our first look at how their creators have revised each of their original designs to make them suitable for production.
EdouardClo’s Great Fishing Boat, for instance, has swapped out its teal highlights for blue, while povoq’s Castle of the Forest has solidified the included minifigure line-up. Take a look through the gallery below to see all eight rejected LEGO Ideas sets you’ll be able to back on July 1.
While these models have clearly changed from their initial LEGO Ideas concepts, the small print for each one still says that the ‘final product may vary’, so bear that in mind when deciding which ones to back.
Not all of these models are guaranteed to be turned into official sets, either: only the first five to reach 3,000 pre-orders will go into production. Those pre-orders will then max out at 5,000 per project, so you’ll likely need to get in quick if you want any hope of snapping them up.
The first round of crowdfunding kicks off on July 1 at 4pm UK time. Prices for any of these sets have yet to be confirmed, but based on 2019’s AFOL Designer Program, you can expect them to come in slightly higher than regular retail LEGO products.
- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
