Five other nostalgic models in LEGO BrickLink Series 7

One week remains for the crowd vote of the BrickLink Designer Program Series 7 and beyond Castle, there are great nostalgic LEGO models.

You can have your say on nearly 400 submissions into Series 7 of the BrickLink Designer Program until February 21, influencing which five models will be picked for official LEGO BrickLink sets in the future. As you would expect, there are plenty of LEGO Castle creations to pick from, all but assuring at least one will be picked for the final five projects.

Beyond this beloved theme though, some other nostalgic submissions based on other themes are worth a look too, from a Classic Space prison to a massive sailing ship. Here are five of the many models on offer that caught our eye.

Forgotten Islands

One_eyeChristos’ Forgotten Islands may not be the biggest build, but the small pair of islands are filled with characters and specifically take inspiration from Islanders, but with a distinct LEGO Pirates flair. It would be good to see a smaller LEGO Pirates location model be picked for a BrickLink build following the massive and impressive Ominous Isle in Series 2.

Astro Viper

Designer: jazlecraz Pieces: 1,312 Stickers: 0 BrickLink: Vote now

Jazlecraz’s Astro Viper certainly continues the iconic aesthetic of LEGO Classic Space, adding in much more complicated techniques than the nostalgic range is used to. The 1,312-piece model wouldn’t need to be an expensive set but is undoubtedly impressive for any Classic Space enthusiast and it’s practically begging for a display stand.

Privateer Frigate Fortuna

Designer: Sam2XD Pieces: 4,000 Stickers:BrickLink: Vote now

Moving back to LEGO Pirates, the colossal 4,000-piece Privateer Frigate Fortuna is one of the most detailed fan-designed LEGO sailing ships we’ve ever seen and it would be a perfect entry into any LEGO Pirates collection, either as a ship stolen by cunning pirates or one on the hunt for thieves to bring them to justice.

Galactic Lockup

Designer: christromans Pieces: 3,223 Stickers: 3 BrickLink: Vote now

Christromans’ giant Galactic Lockup is one of the most impressive LEGO Space models in Series 7 with a colour scheme and detailing that clearly evokes the style of the original Space Police sets, adding a Blacktron character as an escaped convict too. The space-centric prison is suitably futuristic and playable with an open-back, turrets and many side builds as part of the 3,223 elements.

Anchor Cove Imperials Shipyard

Designer: DelusionB Pieces: 3,152 Stickers: 8 BrickLink: Vote now

While it might look similar to Series 4’s Medieval Seaside Market, rest assured that this LEGO Pirates set is a much different concept than the Castle creation and is inspired by a different range. DelusionB has done an excellent job in capturing the lively energy of a shipyard with over 3,152 pieces, depicting a ship under construction, and a considerable fort. That’s all while making use of non-Pirates minifigure parts to the best of their ability for a surprisingly cohesive faction and scene.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
