Rumoured LEGO Gringotts Vault gift with purchase could also hit store shelves

Some small details about the recently-rumoured Gringotts Vault gift with purchase suggest it could hit retail.

There aren’t too many details regarding the rumoured 40598 Gringotts Vault, but one piece of information from Brick Clicker’s report might be more significant than it seems. The set is listed at an 8+ age range, which may seem to be innocuous – but it’s worth noting that most tie-in GWPs for 18+ sets are marked as 18+ themselves.

A recent example of this trend is 10307 Eiffel Tower, which had an exclusive tie-in gift in the form of 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment. Both of these sets were marked at 18+, despite the low piece count of the apartment set.

Looking at this information optimistically, if we assume that 76417 Gringotts Bank is an 18+ set, it could suggest that the Vault gift with purchase could come to regular retail shelves at the 8+ age range.

There’s somewhat of a precedent for this. Recently, 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell released with 40630 Frodo & Gollum as an exclusive gift with purchase, while the latter set was available to buy on its own at retail. Rivendell is an 18+ set, and the BrickHeadz are marked at 10+.

On the other hand, there’s just as much evidence pointing in the other direction. 40598 Gringotts Vault uses a set number usually reserved exclusively for gifts-with-purchase. There’s also no actual evidence that 76417 Gringotts Bank is an 18+ set – 75978 Diagon Alley, which the bank is rumoured to connect to, is marked as 16+. Additionally, 40577 Hogwarts: Grand Staircase, the last Harry Potter gift with purchase, was also listed at 8+ and never hit retail shelves.

So, what do you think is true? Will the Gringotts Vault tie-in set be exclusively available with the purchase of the large bank set, or will it come to retail? Let us know in the comments.
