Here’s a closer look at LEGO 76216 Iron Man Armory

76216 Iron Man Armory (a key release in the LEGO Marvel theme) has received a new video review ahead of its release.

The video – which has been produced by YouTuber Ashnflash – shines a spotlight on the latest Iron Man LEGO set. It draws primary inspiration from the second Iron Man movie, with several elements from it (like Whiplash and the Stark Expo diorama) referenced here. Other points of interest include a series of armour bays, various tools and (of course) some new Iron Man suits for our collections.

While there’s clearly plenty to like in this set (especially if you didn’t pick up the earlier Marvel armoury sets, which this one is compatible with) the review does highlight several issues. A major one is with the armour bays themselves; their added height makes them a poor fit for the suit minifigures. They may also appear a little mismatched alongside the previous armour bays, regardless of their improved accuracy.

The included minifigures are also something of a mixed bag, at least according to this review. Although the selection itself is strong (with the likes of Whiplash making their LEGO debut) the new Iron Man helmet seems likely to divide opinion. Its shaping is unusual compared to early Iron Man helmets, and the choice of suits means the Mk 4 version is still absent in LEGO form.

Still, that probably won’t deter most LEGO fans from adding this set to their collection. You can do so from June 1, when this set lands on LEGO.com.
