The Hogwarts Express is officially LEGO Harry Potter’s Landspeeder

Hogwarts Express is rolling on to shelves this summer… and with it, the Wizarding World train now has the same number of

sets as Luke’s Landspeeder. No, really.

The X-34 Landspeeder is pretty much the running joke of the

community at this point: it feels second only to the X-wing for its ubiquity, but is nowhere near as iconic as the rebel ship, so the

Group’s decision to continually return to the Tatooine speeder is just a little baffling. But the point is that there are a lot of them.

And yet… as of June 1, there will be an equal number of Hogwarts Express sets. That’s thanks to the imminent release of 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station, which has so far only been properly revealed by Smyths Toys. The 1,074-piece set is the sixth minifigure-scale

Hogwarts Express to pull into the station since 2001.

To date, there have also been six minifigure-scale versions of Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder released since 1999. The most recent of those debuted all the way back in 2020 (so we’re probably due another one in 2024) in 75271 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder, while previous iterations have either released solo or as part of a wider Mos Eisley set.

Curiously, the two vehicles also both received ‘ultimate’ versions in 2022, in

and – which keeps them pretty much on level pegging. The Landspeeder has turned up in more microscale sets and advent calendars, but the Hogwarts Express has its fair share of those, too.

If you’re still finding this stat hard to believe, check out the table below for a rundown of every minifigure-scale and UCS

The question now is… will the Landspeeder retake the lead? Or will we see another Hogwarts Express before then? Our money’s on the former, but you never know…

76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station is expected to launch June 1. We’ll bring you official confirmation of the set’s release date and international price as soon as we have it.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then. You can follow me on Twitter at @brfa_chris.
