Here’s how LEGO Harry Potter 76429 Talking Sorting Hat’s voice feature works
There are actually two clever ways to activate the sound brick feature included in the upcoming LEGO Harry Potter 76429 Talking Sorting Hat.
Two new LEGO Harry Potter sets for 2024 were officially revealed today, with both 40677 Prisoner of Azkaban and 76429 Talking Sorting Hat now available for pre-order. The former offers up a selection of BrickHeadz versions of Harry Potter, Sirius Black, and Hermione Granger as they appeared in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, alongside a Dementor, while the latter is something quite unique altogether.
76429 Talking Sorting Hat is a 561-piece brick-built recreation of the magical headgear, one that incorporates a sound brick to bring it to life. The returning interactive element seems to have undergone something of a makeover and hasn’t appeared in any LEGO sets for a few years.
Thanks to the brick’s inclusion in 76429 Talking Sorting Hat, one of 31 randomised sounds can be emitted from the model, allowing you to find out exactly which Hogwarts house it will place you in. The feature is activated either by placing the hat on your head or by tipping the pointy tip of the hat. In addition, the Sorting Hat Song will also be played every now and then, which we’re sure won’t get annoying after the first few times.
At this stage we don’t know exactly how 76429 Talking Sorting Hat sounds or exactly what it says, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for authentic effects and voices from the original Harry Potter movies and not merely flattering imitations.
We’ll all be able to find out for ourselves when 76429 Talking Sorting Hat is released on March 1, 2024, priced at £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 and the LEGO Harry Potter set can be pre-ordered right now.
