How to create LEGO Marvel Symbiote Spider-Man using the 2026 Venom minifigure

Next year’s brand new LEGO Venom minifigure opens the door to a purist custom Symbiote Spider-Man suit, but which head pairs best with the Spider-Man 3 torso?

LEGO Marvel has been rattling around on shelves since 2012, but somehow in all that time the only black-suited Spider-Man minifigure remains a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. January’s 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman takes us one step closer, however, with a new Venom minifigure based on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 – whose torso works just as well for Symbiote Spider-Man.

You’ll need to swap out Venom’s head, of course, and while there are custom third-party versions out there that will give you a shortcut, there are also a handful of potential options if you’re focusing on official minifigure parts. MiniSuperHeroesToday (MSHT) has presented five different choices of LEGO minifigure heads to see which pairs best with the new Venom torso…

Miles Morales

The obvious choice comes from our current black-suited Spider-Man, Miles Morales. His web printing is a nice match for Venom, but as MSHT points out, the red around his eyes is a little too distracting to make for a convincing Symbiote Spider-Man.

Black and gold suit

2021’s black and gold-suited Spider-Man offers up another potential black-suited headpiece… if only it wasn’t for the gold. This one’s a little bit more appropriate than Miles because the gold is a little more subtle than the red, but the presence of any colour at all is obviously not a great match for Symbiote Spidey.

Stealth suit

Peter Parker’s stealth suit from Spider-Man: Far From Home (included in 2019’s 76128 Molten Man Battle) is a better colour match for Venom’s torso, but the straight lines and hi-tech goggles ruin the illusion to a degree.

Mighty Micros Magneto

Possibly your best choice for a Symbiote Spider-Man minifigure as he appears in the comics is this Magneto head from 76073 Mighty Micros: Wolverine vs. Magneto, and it’s an inspired suggestion from MSHT – although if it’s a comics version you’re after, the regular old Venom torso might actually look better.

Either way, the all-black head with white eyes works surprisingly well here – but only when viewed from this particular angle, because this is actually a double-sided head with Magneto’s regular face around back. Short of giving Spider-Man a mullet, there’s not much you can do to hide that.

Spider-Man Noir

Finally, MSHT reckons Spider-Man Noir’s head – from 2020’s 76150 Spiderjet vs. Venom Mech – is the best match for a custom LEGO Symbiote Spider-Man minifigure using Venom’s 2026 torso, at least ‘in the purist department’. The webbing is a nice match for the torso design, but it is let down a tiny bit by the reflective goggles.

You have to imagine that the LEGO Group will eventually get round to bringing us a more easily accessible Symbiote Spider-Man minifigure, but when that might be is anyone’s guess. A year from now? Five? A decade? If you want a solution sooner without resorting to third-party customs, any of these heads may have to suffice…

76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman launches January 1 for £19.99 / $24.99 / €24.99. Take a closer look at the LEGO Marvel set – and the rest of the January wave – in our hands-on review.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
