Koenigsegg rumoured for next LEGO Technic 1:8 supercar

Koenigsegg is rumoured to be joining the LEGO Technic 1:8 supercar range this summer, surpassing the piece count of all the subtheme’s previous sets in the process.

Instagram user carter_bricks04 reports (via Brickmerge.de) that 42232 1:8 Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear will launch later this year, with 4,104 pieces in the box. That tallies with a previous rumour regarding the piece count, while earlier reports have also pegged it at $449.99 in the US and €449.99 in Europe – equivalent to the price tag of the previous three 1:8 supercars – with a July 2026 release date.

Described by Koenigsegg as a track-focused ‘megacar’, Sadair’s Spear rolled off the production lines in 2025 and is limited to just 30 units. It shares its name with the last racehorse owned by Jesko von Koenigsegg, father of the manufacturer’s CEO Christian von Koenigsegg, and is effectively a souped-up Koenigsegg Jesko (a car we’ve already seen in LEGO under the Speed Champions and Technic banners).

While this is still only a rumour and should be treated accordingly for now, it’ll be interesting to see which colour the LEGO Technic team has opted for if it is true. The promo images of Sadair’s Spear show off the car in a sort of coppery bronze hue, for which there’s no real match in the LEGO portfolio. Brown would be comparatively quite dull, but it would at least be a brand new colour for the 1:8 subtheme.

The same source has also shared a couple of new tidbits on other LEGO Technic cars reportedly coming this summer, including piece counts for 42240 Aston Martin AMR26 (1,547) and 42231 Fast and Furious Dodge Charger R/T Car (1,516). Check out the full updated LEGO Technic slate for 2026 in the table below.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
