Last chance for LEGO The Lord of the Rings GWP and double points

Today is your last chance to take advantage of the latest LEGO The Lord of the Rings gift-with-purchase, along with double Insiders points on two previous Middle-earth models.

40761 The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol and Déagol is free with all orders of 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire through the end of play today, April 8. After that point, you’ll need to turn to the secondary market to get your hands on the exclusive gift-with-purchase – where it’s already fetching around £50. That’s also worth knowing in case you want to sell the GWP to offset the cost of The Shire.

It’s worth hanging on to, though, because it includes two new and exclusive minifigures of Sméagol and Déagol from the opening scenes of Return of the King, along with a brick-built depiction of one of the darkest scenes in the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. We’d never see this sort of moment recreated in a regular retail set, so don’t miss the chance to snag it for free when buying 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire.

That chance has lasted a bit longer than anticipated too, because the LEGO Group has clearly forecasted demand for 40761 The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol and Déagol a little better than it did for last year’s 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast, which sold out within hours of 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr going live. Its Nazgul torso did end up on Pick a Brick, so it’ll be interesting to see if Sméagol and Déagol can be pieced together there too.

If you don’t want to gamble on that outcome (given both characters boast exclusive face printing), head over to LEGO.com and order your copy of 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire while this gift-with-purchase is still available. You’ll also receive 30690 Easter Egg Chick Painting Fun, which is free with all orders above £35 / $40 / €40 through April 13.

Still need to catch up on the previous two LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets? LEGO Insiders can currently score double points (worth up to 10% cashback to spend on future purchases) on both 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell and 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr. That offer also ends today (April 8).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
