Leftover BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 and 2 sets coming to LEGO.com

A handful of leftover BrickLink Designer Program Series 1 and 2 sets will be available to purchase at LEGO.com in the US and Canada later this month.

While the crowdfunding period for the first two series of the BrickLink Designer Program has long since passed, the LEGO Group has managed to conjure up a handful of surplus sets through cancelled orders and replacements for lost or damaged shipments. Now that all pre-orders have been successfully fulfilled, these additional copies will be available to purchase directly from LEGO.com on May 20 at 8am PT.

“Sometimes we end up with a small number of additional BDP sets at the end of our production process,” the LEGO Group explained in a press release. “That’s the case with BDP Series 1 and 2. Inventory is very limited, so don’t wait if you want to get your hands on one of these rare fan-designed sets!”

There’s no word yet on which of the 10 different sets included across the first two series of the BrickLink Designer Program will be available for purchase, but either way they will only be available in the US and Canada, because the excess copies were produced specifically for those markets. Any additional sets produced for the European market are only available to purchase on LEGO Inside Tours and Fan Tours in Billund.

The LEGO Group says that it’s possible the same situation will occur for future BrickLink Designer Program series, and shoppers will be notified via email if that happens. Initial crowdfunding for Series 5’s sets will begin on June 10 at 8am PT / 4pm BST.

Set your alarms for 8am PT on May 20 for a chance to purchase additional stock of a selection of Series 1 and 2 sets – but once they’re gone, they’re gone…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
