LEGO 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle revealed
A massive, classically-inspired LEGO castle has been unveiled at LEGO CON for the LEGO Group’s 90th anniversary.
10305 Lion Knights’ Castle is inspired by the earlier days of LEGO Castle sets, which were once enormously prolific in the LEGO lineup. Shifting tastes have meant they’re largely absent from modern waves of LEGO releases, making this set a welcome return to form.
Offering a large footprint (the castle is 44cm wide and 33cm deep) the castle is packed with references to the 1980s era of the Castle theme. However, it houses them within a castle that uses radically improved construction techniques.
Its multiple rooms include everything you’d hope to see including a banquet hall, a dungeon, an armoury and a kitchen. There is also a working portcullis and a water wheel, as well as a hideout within the castle walls.
Expect to see characters and accessories from the Lion Knights, Black Falcons and Forestmen factions in this set, along with other reimagined characters like the wizard Majisto. The set also includes a solitary queen rather than a king, in a break from tradition.
This is the ultimate LEGO Castle set – perhaps in more ways than one, as there’s no telling when we’ll get a set like this again. You can buy it at LEGO.com from August 3 if you’re a VIP, or August 8 if you’re not. Expect to pay £349.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 for the privilege.
