LEGO 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell comes to life in animated short

Watch LEGO 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell come to life in an animated short from Warner Bros., featuring Arwen and Aragorn, Bilbo’s goblin face, and the forming of the Fellowship.

Rivendell is the setting for several iconic scenes from The Lord of the Rings and Warner Bros. has used the astoundingly detailed LEGO set to animate many of them in brick form for the first time. The three-minute long video kicks off with Frodo awaking in Rivendell and being reunited with his hobbit friends, as well as his uncle (along with that face option). We also see Arwen promise to give up her immortal life for Aragorn and the pair come as close as plastic minifigures can get to kissing.

The bulk of the video centres around the real action of Rivendell: the forming of the Fellowship of the Ring. Hilariously, we even see Gimli’s attempt to destroy the Ring, bounching off to lie on his back. The best part of this is seeing the smirks of the other minifigures as he does so.

We also get a brick-built recreation of the most memed event of the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy: One does not simply walk into Mordor, as well as a seriously cool shot of the Ring’s malevolent effect on the group, with their arguing reflections superimposed onto the LEGO Ring.

Finally, the Fellowship is formed, made up of the majority of the minifigures included in the set. You can see the brick-built beauty of 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell in all its glory in the closing shot, as the group starts their journey across the bridge leading out of the elven city.

If seeing photos of 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell wasn’t enough to convince you to add it to your collection, the recreation of these scenes surely will. It’s available to buy exclusively at LEGO.com or in LEGO stores for £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99. You can watch the full video of the animated LEGO 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell over on the Warner Bros. YouTube channel, as well as a speed build of the 6,167-piece set.
