LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance – everything we know about the Black Friday 2024 set

The LEGO Group’s next livestream is due to take place on November 7, and all signs point to a reveal of this year’s Black Friday set – so here’s everything we know about the rumoured 10335 The Endurance

Hot on the heels of this week’s reveal of 21353 The Botanical Garden, the LEGO Group is apparently already gearing up to take another slice of your bank account with its annual Black Friday set. This coveted launch date has brought us the likes of 76269 Avengers Tower, 10307 Eiffel Tower and 75313 AT-AT in recent years, and 2024’s addition to the Black Friday arsenal is said to be 10335 The Endurance.

That’s according to Brick Clicker, typically a reliable source in the LEGO space, who has been talking up word of a new LEGO ship as early as May this year. Whether this is the first you’re hearing of it or you’re already salivating over the prospect and want to make sure you have all the details in hand, we’ve summarised everything shared so far about the rumoured LEGO Black Friday 2024 flagship set…

“But Brick Fanatics, what exactly is the Endurance?” We’re glad you asked. While everyone knows the Eiffel Tower and it’s pretty tricky to escape the global pop culture dominance of something like Avengers Tower, the story of the Endurance is one you may not yet have come across. This was the ship Sir Ernest Shackleton used to sail to the Antarctic, a journey on which he embarked – with a crew of 27 men – in late 1914.

By January the following year, roughly 200 miles from her final destination, the ship got stuck in polar pack ice, and finally sunk after 10 months of turbulence. While the LEGO Group has already tackled one maritime disaster with 10294 Titanic, this one at least had a slightly happier ending, as the entire crew lived to tell the tale thanks to the efforts of Shackleton and a small band of men (more on that further down).

The LEGO Endurance is likely to be a fine tribute to the original vessel in the same manner as 10294 Titanic, perhaps prompted by a recent documentary on the subject, although the jury is out at this stage on whether it will be minifigure scale or not. There’s surely enough room in the budget and piece count to allow for it, but the designers could easily aim for a more striking display model free of minifigures, or perhaps with one or two on a stand.

LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance price

10335 The Endurance is said to retail for $259.99 in the US, which puts it much cheaper than previous Black Friday products. For reference, 2023’s 76269 Avengers Tower retails for $499.99; 2022’s 10307 Eiffel Tower costs $629.99; and 2021’s 75313 AT-AT – retiring in 2024 – is priced at an eye-watering $849.99. The Endurance would therefore continue the trajectory of more affordable Black Friday sets by some distance.

$259.99 is the same price as 76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition and 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System in the US, so chances are we’re looking at a UK price tag of £219.99 and an EU RRP of €259.99. That would also make it the joint-10th-most-expensive LEGO set of 2024.

LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance piece count

So, what are you likely to get for your money? Well, at least 3,011 pieces, according to the rumour mill. That’s how many elements 10335 The Endurance is expected to include, which – for those playing along at home – makes it the 14th-biggest LEGO 2024 set by piece count, sandwiched between 31212 The Milky Way Galaxy and 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line.

It’s roughly 600 fewer elements than you’ll find in 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System, which is said to retail for the same price, but then that model includes tonnes of tiny and fiddly elements. 10335 The Endurance, by contrast, seems likely to incorporate larger elements for its masts at a minimum, alongside some pretty hefty sails.

LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance release date

We’ve been talking up Black Friday as the intended release date for 10335 The Endurance, but if you’re not quite so tuned into the intricacies of the commercial calendar, it’s worth knowing that in 2024, Black Friday specifically falls on November 29. While we’re probably going to see a bunch of offers the week before for LEGO Insiders Weekend (based on previous years), Black Friday itself could be the best time to buy this year – especially if you’ve got your eye on the Endurance.

LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance gift-with-purchase

James Caird boat 1024x576

The LEGO Group is said to be sweetening the deal on 10335 The Endurance with a corresponding gift-with-purchase, 40729 James Caird Boat. Coming in at 232 pieces, the exclusive freebie will likely depict the boat that Shackleton and his crew sailed 800 miles in search of rescue. They completed their journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia in 17 days, and ultimately ensured the entire crew of the Endurance survived.

It’s a neat concept for a gift-with-purchase that feeds even further into the history of the vessel, though at 232 pieces it’s probably best not to expect the same level of detail as the main set. On the other hand, it is a much smaller boat, so it should still (hopefully) look pretty good. The question is, will it be minifigure scale and include the crew too?

Remember that until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group, everything here should be taken lightly. We’ve only got a couple of weeks to go until that November 7 livestream, though – and it seems odds-on to have something to do with Black Friday…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
