LEGO’s 13-year quest to complete an Iron Man collection is finally over
It’s taken 13 years, but the LEGO Group has finally finished its quest to complete Iron Man’s Phase One wardrobe with this summer’s 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust.
Tony Stark wears seven different Iron Man armours throughout Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, handily named Mark 1 through Mark 7 (before jumping all the way to Mark 42 for Iron Man 3 in Phase Two). But for the first chunk of LEGO Marvel’s output, the earliest suit represented in minifigure form was Mark 7, released as part of the initial wave of Avengers Assemble sets in 2012.
That’s partly because the LEGO Group didn’t have the licence for Marvel characters when the first two Iron Man movies arrived in cinemas, and up until Avengers: Endgame dropped in 2019, the theme’s focus was almost entirely on the latest additions to the MCU. There was no room to dip its toes back into those earlier films – though it did begin to find workarounds by the time Endgame arrived.
The first of those was 76125 Iron Man Hall of Armor, which brought us our first (and so far only) Mark 1 and Mark 5 armours. The LEGO Group subsequently started revisiting earlier MCU instalments through its Infinity Saga range, paving the way for Mark 2 (in 2020’s 76167 Iron Man Armory), Mark 3 (in 2021’s 76190 Iron Man: Iron Monger Mayhem) and Mark 6 (in 2023’s 76269 Avengers Tower) to join the collection.
That left Mark 4 as the only gap in the Phase One collection – a hole that’s about to be filled by 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust, because the 436-piece June release goes beyond the remit of previous LEGO Marvel 18+ character display sets (like 76165 Iron Man Helmet) by including a minifigure. When it hits shelves, this will be the one and only place to get your hands on a Mark 4 Iron Man minifigure.
That’s assuming the minifigure doesn’t show up in any other LEGO Marvel sets rumoured to be on the way this summer, but it’s hard to see where it would fit into the line-up given it only showed up briefly in Iron Man 2 and was destroyed in Iron Man 3. If there’s anywhere it might make an appearance, it would surely be 76320 Iron Man & War Machine vs. Hammer Drones, but we’re only speculating there.
For now, you’ll need to get your hands on 76327 Iron Man MK4 Bust when it launches on June 1, 2025 if you want to complete your own LEGO Iron Man Phase One minifigure collection. It’s available to pre-order from LEGO.com now for £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99.
