LEGO 21337 Table Football prompts calls for new product

As LEGO fans digest the reveal of the upcoming LEGO Ideas 21337 Table Football, it’s prompted fans to ask for a new retail option.

LEGO 21337 Table Football includes a total of 22 minifigures, complete with 44 different heads and 43 different hairpieces. This level of choice and variety has already been explained by the LEGO Group, but fans have been discussing online another option they’d like to see.

At £214.99 / $249.99 / €249.99, 21337 is on the pricier end of the scale as LEGO sets go. One Reddit user wrote ‘Really wish they’d release packs of just heads & hair’ during a discussion of the diverse range of heads and hairpieces.

Another agreed, writing ‘it would add so much longevity to older collections that get handed down to kids’. Being able to update the minifigures would offer more display and play options to long-term sets, updating the appearance of characters associated with sets without needing to rehaul the whole design.

While you can buy individual heads and hairpieces from LEGO stores through Pick A Brick, there’s usually far less range of skin tones and hairstyles. Although over £200 might seem like a lot to pay even for 44 different heads and 43 hairpieces, you do also get a pretty nifty set.

21337 Table Football is actually playable, with colour-coded sliding knobs above each goal to help you keep score against your opponents. Plus, it’s a good-looking set that would make a great display piece for any LEGO lover, football fan or not.

It seems unlikely that the LEGO Group would release bags exclusively of heads and hairpieces. You can of course still buy them individually on eBay or via sites like Brickset.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
