LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite visual tour and gallery

Get up close and personal with the K-pop sensations of LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite with our all-star visual tour and gallery.

21339 BTS Dynamite is set to make its debut sometime in March 2023, with the LEGO Ideas set based on the South Korean pop icons. With the band’s videos clocking up billions of views on YouTube and their albums selling millions of copies worldwide, the group is a legitimate phenomenon and beloved by numerous fans around the globe.

Following a few sneaky teases, the LEGO Group has finally pulled back the curtain on 21339 BTS Dynamite, with the latest LEGO Ideas model due to be unleashed next month. We’ve taken a deep dive into the official images of the set released so far to bring you our observations of what to expect when the build finally arrives.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite comparison

When compared to the original LEGO Ideas submission, it’s clear that there’s been an exponential increase in the amount of detail packed into 21339 BTS Dynamite. The basic three building models remain, but everything has been thoroughly fleshed out, with nods to both the band and the video for the song, ‘Dynamite.’

21339 BTS Dynamite adds in an additional palm tree, multiple signs, road cones, a full stage (complete with non-functional lighting rig and speakers) and much more. Also included in the LEGO Ideas set is the ice cream truck that appears in the original video, with a large melting cone on its roof.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite build

With only 749 pieces included in the set, it doesn’t seem as if 21339 BTS Dynamite will be the most complicated of LEGO Ideas models to construct. The three buildings are merely store fronts and only include partially built sections to be put together, which would seem to fly in the face of its labelling as an 18+ product.

However, it’s the numerous little details and nods to the band that will most likely prove to be the most entertaining elements of the set. With each of the three buildings being detachable (as per the press release), there will also be multiple display options available, allowing fans the ability to set up the model and minifigures however they see fit.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite minifigures

The minifigures included with the original LEGO Ideas submission were fairly basic to say the least. Although every member of the band was present and correct, they lacked any facial features or real styling when it came to their fashion sense.

That’s all been corrected with 21339 BTS Dynamite though, as RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook each get their own signature hairstyles, clothing and facial prints on both sides of their head pieces. That should give fans all sorts of opportunities to mix and match looks amongst the group and even swipe outfits from other minifigures in their collections whenever they want style a makeover.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite details

It’s in its attention-to-detail that 21339 BTS Dynamite really seems to shine. Building on the original fan submission, the upcoming LEGO Ideas set is packed with plenty of visual appeal. The donut shop has a full menu for customers to peruse, the record store features numerous copies of the band’s albums (most likely stickered tiles) and a basketball hoop with a graffiti-covered wall matches the pop video source material.

The LEGO Ideas team seems to have taken the original concept for the model and run with it, packing smaller sections within each of the three buildings with lots of fun details to ensure the set has as much value for money as possible.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite new pieces

In some ways, 21339 BTS Dynamite appears to have more in common with traditional LEGO City sets than standard LEGO Ideas builds. In fact it’s not hard to imagine the model and its performers fitting in well with any LEGO Modular Building display, offering its minifigure residents their very own private K-pop show.

As far as we can tell at this stage, no obvious new pieces appear to have been created specifically for 21339 BTS Dynamite, other than the minifigure prints and stickers, but we’ll know more once we have the set in hand for an in-depth review.

LEGO Ideas 21339 BTS Dynamite is due to arrive on LEGO.com and in stores sometime in early March 2023 and will be priced at £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.
