LEGO 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar GWP extended

You’ve now got a little longer to pick up this month’s gift-with-purchase, as the LEGO Group has extended the promotional period for 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar.

Originally planned to run until July 14, the smaller buildable shoe – designed to accompany 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, although you don’t need to buy that LEGO for Adults set to get it – will now be available until July 20 (or while stocks last).

It’s pretty unusual for the LEGO Group to extend a promo before it’s even reached its original deadline, suggesting it may have overestimated demand for this particular freebie. The high qualifying threshold for 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar may have something to do with it, though.

Currently, you’ll need to spend £95 / $85 / €95 to see the 92-piece 18+ set added to your order. It’s a good thing that any and all sets, minifigures and keychains count towards that total, because it’s bizarrely £15.01 / $5.01 / €5.01 higher than the cost of 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar.

That means buying the larger shoe alone won’t cut it, and you’ll need to top up your order with other sets. For a brief moment earlier this week, it looked like the LEGO Group might have been about to revise that strange condition – but those hopes were dashed as quickly as they came.

Either way, you’ve got a little more time to decide what to buy to nab the adorable shoe (which, by the way, is totally worth it – especially if you’re grabbing 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar, because it includes the minifigure that larger set should really have come with anyway).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
