LEGO 40580 Blacktron Cruiser gift-with-purchase revealed

The official online store has revealed an upcoming gift-with-purchase, confirming the teased return of Blacktron in 40580 Blacktron Cruiser.

As teased in 10497 Galaxy Explorer, Blacktron is back in 2023 with 40580 Blacktron Cruiser. This is listed on the online store as a gift-with-purchase with a value of £25.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 and 456 pieces.

It appears to be a recreation of 6894 Invader from 1987 and follows 10497 Galaxy Explorer as the latest Classic Space set in the modern era of LEGO. The box art is a near perfect match to the original model and there is one included Blacktron rogue minifigure and a robot sidekick.

The functionality of 40580 Blacktron Cruiser is similar to that of the original set with the ship able to split apart, possibly depicting a base, drones or whatever else you have in mind for the return of Blacktron.

There is no official information on the listing as to when you’ll be able to get your hands on this GWP and for what threshold though it being added to the official online store now suggests that the team at the LEGO Group are preparing for a release soon.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
