LEGO 40756 Lucky Knots gift-with-purchase review
LEGO 40756 Lucky Knots is a deceptively simple gift-with-purchase, but the most exciting feature for most will be the golden rings used to hold it all together.
A gift-with-purchase available with all orders above £135 / $150 / €150 through January 7 (or while stocks last), 40756 Lucky Knots delivers a cute set that appears complex at first glance but is actually deceptively simple to construct. LEGO fans will be particularly pleased with some of the parts included in the box, giving elements within this set a life long after the celebrations have ended.
Themed around the Lunar New Year and mimicking a typical decoration used in many homes around the world (most commonly across the Chinese diaspora) this gift-with-purchase provides an excellent way of decorating one’s home for the Year of the Snake.

For those who are not usually inclined to decorate for Lunar New Year and who don’t intend to start, though, this set has more to it than meets the eye. To say that 40756 Lucky Knots is less than the sum of its parts isn’t to knock the design itself – it’s merely worth mentioning that some of these parts are particularly nice and shiny.
Gold has long been associated with Lunar New Year as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. It’s entirely fitting, then, that the most exciting elements included in 40756 Lucky Knots are the small gold rings that are used on the back of the builds to hold them together.
While this element is most famous as the One Ring from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets, there are enough rings in this box to fully kit out a whole host of Sauron’s allies – each Lucky Knot decoration contains four rings, and there are a couple of spares in the box, so for any LEGO fan that just can’t get enough of these elements, this set is an excellent way of nabbing a bunch of rings.

While stickers are never particularly relished by the majority of LEGO fans, there are cases where their inclusion in a set can be forgiven somewhat – such as, for example, a gift-with-purchase that is produced in limited numbers and is essentially tossed at consumers as a freebie.
As such, while the fact that each Lucky Knot features a prominent sticker is not exactly preferable to a printed tile, this is far from the worst thing in the world given the set in question. What’s more, it must be said that these stickers are exemplary, with beautiful shading and detail that really make them stand out.
All in all, 40756 Lucky Knots is a perfectly good Lunar New Year decoration, but many LEGO fans will likely be tempted to cannibalise it for parts thanks to some delightful elements included within the box. You can claim yours when spending at least £135 / $150 / €150 at LEGO.com by the end of January 7 (or while stocks last).
