LEGO Disney 100 43230 A Homage to Walt Disney revealed

A French retailer has debuted the first images of another LEGO Disney 100th anniversary set, 43230 A Homage to Walt Disney, which includes tiny new elements for Bambi and Dumbo.

The 811-piece set – listed by Fnac – will launch September 1, and is due to retail for €99.99 in Europe. Included in the box are a vintage camera with film reel, a clapperboard-inspired minifigure display stand, minifigures of Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and tiny representations of iconic Disney characters Bambi and Dumbo.

This is only the latest in a string of Disney-themed sets released (or planned) for the House of Mouse’s 100th birthday, the most recent of which – 43222 Disney Castle – launched only days ago at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores. If you can’t afford that £345 behemoth, though, 43230 A Homage to Walt Disney should provide a slightly more accessible way to celebrate the centennial.

The strip of cellulose included in the set is unique, and includes nods to countless Disney movies over the past century. All five characters are also brand new, marking the first time Walt Disney has received his own minifigure, and the third monochrome variants of Mickey and Minnie (following those in 21317 Steamboat Willie and 71024 Disney Series 2).

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
