LEGO 60473 The City Tower references NINJAGO, Denmark and more

The new LEGO 60473 The City Tower is packed with more Easter eggs than usual for City, referencing everything from NINJAGO to Denmark.

There’s not too long to wait until 60473 The City Tower is launched next month, and there’s plenty to admire beyond another opportunity to collect the new pigeon piece, as well as pick up the second-biggest LEGO City so far. LEGO City sets are no strangers to Easter eggs, but they don’t usually have quite as many as 60473 The City Tower, but at £179.99 / $209.99 / €199.99, that might be expected.

It’s not just the wide and varied world of LEGO City that is referenced in 60473 The City Tower, as the designers have expanded the theme’s boundaries to other themes, including NINJAGO as well as the real world via Denmark. Here’s a guide to the Easter eggs we’ve spotted so far in 60473 The City Tower before it launches on June 1, 2025.

LEGO City Easter eggs

The LEGO City Easter eggs in 60473 The City Tower include an advert for 60404 Burger Truck outside the tower, some Rocket Racer graffiti on the train and a game based on LEGO City Stuntz with the minifigure from 60359 Dunk Stunt Ramp Challenge.

Most notably, there’s a plaque on the outside of the tower referencing the origins of the LEGO Group all the way back in 1932. In the fictional universe, this tower has been there since the very beginning and will be turning 100 years old in seven years.

NINJAGO graffiti

As well as graffiti for Rocket Racer, the other side of the train in 60473 The City Tower has the unmistakable visage of a NINJAGO mask, referencing the icon used for the theme in its early years.

The blue rabbit icon to the side with orange tips on the ears might be an Easter egg for Bunchu from LEGO DREAMZzz too, especially since the rabbit is sleeping in the graffiti.

A mystery Easter egg

One reference that’s harder to pin down comes from a police computer and a pair of wanted posters scattered around 60473 The City Tower feature a criminal with the number 604-14. Five-digit numbers such as this usually reference other LEGO City sets, but this is the number for 60414 Fire Station with Fire Truck, which has no clear connections to the wanted poster.

Whether this suggests that one of the firefighters has turned bad, or that this is an Easter egg to something else entirely, is currently unclear. Unravelling this mystery ahead of the set’s release should keep the community occupied, at least.

A real-world reference

lego city 60473 IC3

While initially difficult to pin down for those outside of Denmark, a sticker on the front of the train labelled IC3 is a reference to the DSB Class MF model of train that runs in the country, which also uses the name IC3, indicating that it is a three-carriage InterCity trainset.

These trains were built in Denmark and continue to operate to this day. Considering that the LEGO Group is based in Denmark, this Easter egg makes almost too much sense for one of its longest-running themes based on daily life.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
