LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 minifigure is more accurate than ever

The second series of LEGO Marvel Collectable Minifigures has an oddly-designed minifigure, but it soon will be more accurate than ever before.

71039 Marvel Series 2 is available now and will retire at the end of 2023, at the time of writing. Its 12 minifigures are based on various Marvel Studios Disney+ projects both available and upcoming. However, one of them didn’t quite make sense, until now.

Werewolf by Night is depicted in colour in 71039 Marvel Series 2. While this undoubtedly makes it more versatile, it’s inaccurate to the Marvel Studios’ Special Presentation of the same name, which was completely in black and white apart from the final two scenes that did not feature the character.

While it’s not accurate to Werewolf by Night, it is accurate to the upcoming Werewolf by Night in Colour, which now has its first official trailer. As the name suggests, this is a release of the October 2022 special but in colour instead of black and white.

Whether the LEGO Collectable Minifigures design team were given a heads-up of this release or decided to depict Werewolf by Night as a minifigure in colour to make it more compatible with other LEGO sets is unknown.

Werewolf by Night in Colour releases almost exactly one year after the original special on October 20 on Disney+ and 71039 Marvel Series 2 is available in stores and online for £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 per blind-boxed character.

Those who have yet to pick them up might consider adding one or two to their LEGO order during the current LEGO Insiders double points event. As we near Black Friday, you can find the latest Black Friday deals on Brick Fanatics too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
