LEGO 76269 Avengers Tower designer comments on missing minifigure

LEGO 76269 Avengers Tower is missing a minifigure that has appeared in every other Marvel modular building and a designer has explained why.

LEGO Marvel’s line of modular buildings has had one recurring character throughout the small collection, at least it did until 76269 Avengers Tower. This minifigure and character is missing from the biggest LEGO Marvel set of all time – no it’s not Quicksilver. Thankfully, one of the designers behind this massive set explained why Spider-Man is missing from 76269 Avengers Tower.

“He’s busy web-slinging elsewhere,” explains designer Justin Ramsden in an interview with MiniSuperHeroesToday. “If you have one in your collection then you can put him here and if not then buy the other superhero modular buildings and you get him.”

The other two LEGO Marvel modular buildings – 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum – include a comic-inspired of Spider-Man and one based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe respectively. Otherwise, Wong, Scarlet Witch and Iron Man are the only repeating characters across 76178 Daily Bugle and 76269 Avengers Tower.

Though the latter is better suited to 76269 Avengers Tower, at least you have the option to determine which Spider-Man you want to pose next to the tower, as long as you’re willing to spend up to £299.99 / $349.99 / €349.99.

LEGO Marvel 76269 Avengers Tower is launching on November 24 with a LEGO Marvel Taxi GWP for £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99. 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum are available now. Spider-Man couldn’t make time for a spot in the new set it seems but at least he’s included in the other two compatible models.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
