— Where to buy LEGO Harry Potter 76424 Flying Ford Anglia

LEGO Harry Potter 76424 Flying Ford Anglia is available from March 1, 2024 for £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99. You’ll find it at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores, as well as through third-party retailers.

The LEGO Harry Potter theme has no shortage of brick-built Ford Anglias but never one that takes up an entire set. While it might seem like a stretch to dedicate a whole build to 76424 Flying Ford Anglia, the more you get into it, the more impressed you’ll get.

Being able to wholly focus on the build means that every angle and white accent of the little blue car is captured perfectly. In such a compact set, every design choice is easily noticeable. That includes mistakes as well as checkmarks – but there’s a lot more to impress than to disappoint.

From how the boot door folds up neatly under the rear windshield to provide a spot for Harry’s trunk to the studs inside for Hedwig to perch on, 76424 Flying Ford Anglia makes sure that every single piece counts. The car can also neatly fit both Harry and Ron in side-by-side, even if they are both standing due to their inflexible short legs.

The light blue (slightly lighter than most of its predecessors, such as in 75968 4 Privet Drive) catches the eye and stays faithful to the source material. The bright shade pairs perfectly with the white detailing throughout the car. The white roof also easily lifts away, allowing easy access to the minifigures inside, which you can also slide in and out from the side through the hinged doors.

That same attention to detail carries through to the minifigures, with both Harry and Ron featured in the very same clothes that they flew to Hogwarts in. Considering it’s one of the most well-memed shots from the entire movie franchise, it’s a good job that the LEGO Harry Potter designers got every detail down.

— LEGO Harry Potter 76424 Flying Ford Anglia price —

76424 Flying Ford Anglia has just enough detail to impress, staying close to the source material, without packing in too much that would hike the price up. As such, it comes in at a very respectable £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99, making it the ideal quick build for a LEGO Harry Potter fan of any age. At a price that reasonable, there’s really no reason not to pick it up and add a Potter icon to your shelf.

— 76424 Flying Ford Anglia pros and cons —

76424 Flying Ford Anglia doesn’t try to do any more than what it needs to. It’s a simple yet appealing set, capturing every detail of the real car and resulting in an engaging build that will survive any measure of ‘flying’ around the room. All said and done, 76424 Flying Ford Anglia is a neat addition to the theme that makes it well worth being a set all of its own.

— Alternatives to LEGO Harry Potter 76424 Flying Ford Anglia —

When it comes to brick-built cars at this price point, there’s a surprising amount of choice. If you’re not married to getting something straight out of the Wizarding World, you could get an even more detailed car in 40650 Land Rover Classic Defender, complete with Land Rover branding throughout. You’ll only get one minifigure in a set of the same price as 76424 Flying Ford Anglia but that extra attention goes on the car with impressive results.

Elsewhere, you could also pick up 60402 Blue Monster Truck. A slightly different style to the other two, it’s a fun little build – mostly because of those comically huge wheels. Like 40650 Land Rover Classic Defender, it comes with one minifigure driver, ready to rip into some crazy stunts.

Does anyone remember if Scabbers is ever seen in the car in the movies? If so, does he travel in the boot/trunk as suggested on the box art?

He does travel in the car in the movies at the beginning of the Chamber of Secrets, but I don’t believe he’s actually seen, just assumed to be in Ron’s pocket. Tricky to achieve the same effect in LEGO terms!
