LEGO 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar GWP finally arrives down under

Last month’s LEGO Adidas gift-with-purchase has finally arrived at LEGO.com in Australia and New Zealand.

The rest of the world received 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar with qualifying purchases in July, alongside the launch of the larger LEGO for Adults 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar. The threshold was puzzlingly pitched slightly higher than the cost of the set across the UK, US and Europe, and the same is true in Australia – but not in New Zealand.

You’ll need to spend $189 AUD / $189 NZD on any LEGO sets across the entire portfolio to qualify for 40486 Adidas Originals Superstar. In Australia, that means you’ll need to add an extra $30 of product on top of 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar if you want both shoes. In New Zealand, however, buying just the bigger trainer will net you its smaller companion piece.

Of course, there’s nothing to say you have to buy 10282 Adidas Originals Superstar as part of that $189 total – literally any set apart from the BrickLink Designer Program models (which now appear to be unavailable for purchase anyway) and Bricks & Pieces orders will count towards the total.

40486 Adidas Originals Superstar will be available online and in-store in Australia and New Zealand until August 31, or while stocks last. It’s long since gone from everywhere else.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
