LEGO announces its first SDCC 2023 panel
The LEGO Group may not have any exclusives at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, but it will be hosting at least one panel at the event.
SDCC is right around the corner, and the event’s organisers have now published the initial schedule of panels taking place over the four-day convention. The LEGO Group’s head of entertainment development Keith Malone will host one of the first panels, and will be joined on stage by NINJAGO and DREAMZzz writers, voice actors and model designers.
The hour-long panel – titled ‘LEGO: I Had a DREAMZzz Last Night About NINJAGO!’ – promises a mix of insights into both the recently-launched LEGO DREAMZzz TV series and this summer’s LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising reboot, and will take place at 10.30am PDT on Thursday, July 20, in Room 6BCF of the San Diego Convention Center.

Guests for the panel include LEGO DREAMZzz model designer Freddy Charters, voice actors Sarah Jeffery (Zoey), Marcos Cardenas (Mateo), Vincent Tong (Logan, Kai), Brian Drummond (Mr. Oz, Nightmare King, Ras, Riyu, Lobbo) and Larissa Dias (Izzie), head of LEGO production Asa Tait, and NINJAGO Dragons Rising head writers Doc Wyatt and Kevin Burke.
The panel description invites attendees to come along dressed as their favourite ninja or dreamchaser, and while it otherwise doesn’t specify what’s on the agenda, 2024 product reveals wouldn’t be too much of a stretch based on previous SDCCs. In the meantime, you can catch the first 10 episodes of the LEGO DREAMZzz TV series over on the LEGO YouTube channel, while the first wave of tie-in sets will launch August 1.
The LEGO Group has seemingly abandoned the concept of SDCC-exclusive sets and minifigures following the event’s pandemic-prompted hiatus in 2020 and 2021, but it may yet have a few surprises up its sleeve by the time the convention rolls around. SDCC 2023 will take place from July 20 to 23.
