LEGO Architecture heads to New York in new, abstract set

LEGO Architecture’s next release is heading back to New York, but in a much more abstract and artistic way than any other set before it.

The LEGO Group has officially revealed one of the most unusual LEGO Architecture sets to date, 21066 New York City – The Big Apple. The 1,465-piece model will be released on June 1, 2026, depicting iconic landmarks of New York with a giant apple framing the forced-perspective build.

While most LEGO Architecture sets depict miniature versions of recognisable landmarks, or at times a skyline of a city, 21066 New York City – The Big Apple takes a more abstract approach. Since New York City has been featured in the theme several times, the LEGO designers have opted to recreate a stylised version of city in a monochromatic suite of colours, save for the bright yellow taxis.

There’s the Empire State Building, the One World Trade Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, the Guggenheim and Metropolitan museums and Central Park, all framed by a giant black apple with a white outline. That backdrop alludes to the titular title of the city, and it’s about as drastic a shift for the theme as 21064 Paris – City of Love from earlier this year.

LEGO Architecture appears to be leaning away from its core topics, remixing the norm with sets such as 21066 New York City – The Big Apple in 2026. It’s certainly an eye-catching take on the iconic city, and it can be yours starting from June 1 for £129.99 / $139.99 / €139.99.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
