LEGO Batman 2026 sets’ missing minifigures ‘try to balance’ with Arkham Asylum

Minifigures missing in action in the LEGO Batman 2026 sets are stated to be attempting to balance out the many minifigures in a recent model.

You might have spotted that the three new LEGO Batmobiles coming in March 2026 are missing a trio of minifigures that would perfectly accompany Batman in each set. 76331 Batman v Superman Batmobile, 76332 The Batman Batmobile and 76333 Batman & Robin Batmobile would have been an ideal spot for a new DCEU Superman, The Batman’s Penguin and 1997 Robin minifigures.

There’s only one Batman in each set, though, and the design team behind the sets have shared some insight into this decision.

“To be honest, this is the first time that I can think of where we made a set without any villains; there’s always something, even if they’re shoehorned in,” said Senior LEGO Designer Adam Grabowski, speaking to Jay’s Brick Blog and RacingBrick.

“We didn’t do a villain for 76304 Batman Forever Batmobile either, we were really focusing on the Batmobile,” responded Creative Lead Jesper Nielsen. “It’s to make sure that we’re focusing on lifting the detail level of everything else, so it is a focusing exercise.”

It’s not just about reallocating the budget of the overall set to focus more on the build than a second minifigure, though, as the Creative Lead feels that only one minifigure in these four Batmobile sets balances out another recent model and its many minifigures.

“We’ve tried to do the opposite of 76300 Arkham Asylum where we’re putting a ton of villains in, so we’re trying to balance it out.”

76300 Arkhyam Asylum features 16 minifigures, 10 of which are villains (but six are in the same orange jumpsuit). It’s believed by Nielsen that the high number of villain minifigures in the massive Batman build needed to be balanced out by only including one Batman minifigure in next year’s Batmobile sets.

It’s an interesting proposition, and something to consider with other sets that have a high minifigure count in themes moving forward. Whatever the case, the new LEGO Batmobiles launch next year on March 1, 2026.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

The “many minifigures” in the Arkham set is a bit of a scam, considering 6 have the exact same body and they didn’t bother to match the hands’ color with the respective skin tones. And they still won’t include a classic Robin anywhere.

The ‘Batman Vs Superman’ batmobile is a real disappointment!

I don’t know but the reason of “balancing” things out falls flat when you realize just how much Lego’s charging for their products now.

Almost the same as they were in 2020. Who else can say that?
