LEGO BIONICLE gift-with-purchase mask concepts revealed
With the impending release of 40581 Tahu and Takua, the LEGO BIONICLE gift’s design process has been further explored on social media.
Following a previous reveal of concepts for the next gift-with-purchase to appear on LEGO.com, more insights from the creation of 40581 Tahu and Takua have surfaced on social media, with designer George Gilliatt sharing a custom depiction of Tahu using the frame of 31124 Super Robot. However, it’s unclear where this creation fits in the development process of 40581 Tahu and Takua.

Nick Vás has shared an especially exciting look behind the scenes with the confirmation that the 90th-anniversary promotional 40567 Forest Hideout inspired the team at the LEGO Group to pursue a similar build for BIONICLE. You can take a closer look at the initial concepts by clicking here.
The all-important masks also underwent a few iterations throughout the design process, with a block-based design trialled before the design team landed on the prints used in the GWP.
40581 Tahu and Takua will be available from January 27 through February 9 (or while stocks last), with orders above £90 / $100 / €100 but the exact themes included in the deal have yet to be confirmed.
