LEGO Blacktron D2C remake rumoured for 2025

A remake of a LEGO Classic Space subtheme Blacktron set might be blasting off in early 2025, if the latest rumours are to be believed.

The LEGO Classic Space subtheme Blacktron partially returned in 2023 in the form of the 40580 Blacktron Cruiser gift-with-purchase, which was then followed by a Blacktron Mutant minifigure in 71046 Series 26 Space in 2024.

Now comes a fresh rumour suggesting that long-time fans of Blacktron may be in for a treat in January 2025, with a potential D2C set said to be on the way. Instagram user a.clay.brick (via Mr. Snrub and fateful_lego) is reporting that 10355 Blacktron Remake could be landing early next year, with a 1,151 piece count and a price tag of $109.99.

While no additional details regarding any such potential model have been revealed, the story goes on to suggest that 6954 Renegade from 1987 might be a possible candidate for the updated LEGO set.

The original 313-piece LEGO Classic Space build came with a large black, trans-yellow and trans-red ship, reflecting the overall colour scheme of the first generation of Blacktron sets, with several modules that could be detached and reconfigured. In addition, 6954 Renegade also included two Blacktron astronaut minifigures and a small buggy vehicle.

If 10355 Blacktron Remake is indeed an updated D2C version of the model, its higher piece count could suggest a much more impressive set altogether, one that would easily match the scale of 10497 Galaxy Explorer.

As usual, do treat any such rumours regarding 10355 Blacktron Remake with a pinch of salt for now and we’ll bring you more updates on the rumoured 2025 build if and when they become available.

Why REMAKE, when you can just ADD to the collection instead? A good example: The Pirates of Barracuda Bay set recently done. Perfect homage to the classic pirates, while adding beautifully to the classic pirates collection. Time for some imagination with these new Blacktron releases. For example take a look at M-Tron; rather than remaking an existing set – how about giving them a space station? Blacktron can also do with nice additions. Just type Blacktron 1 into google images, and you will see how clever and inspired people are.
