LEGO Brick Take Back campaign to trade old LEGO for gift cards
The LEGO Group has launched a new campaign in the US and Germany, offering to take your old pieces in exchange for gift cards.
The LEGO Brick Take Back campaign is now live for a limited time in the US and Germany. This campaign is similar to LEGO Replay, but you’ll earn rewards for taking part in this program.
Interested enthusiasts in the United States and Germany are invited to mail in their unwanted elements including minifigures, mini-dolls and baseplates. Everything must be fully disassembled aside from minifigures and mini-dolls and in good condition.
The campaign is not currently accepting LEGO DUPLO elements, non-LEGO toys, assembled LEGO sets, batteries or electronic components, storage containers or instructions.
In return for sending in your unwanted pieces, you’ll be rewarded with an e-gift card equal to $6 per pound or €12 per kilogram of eligible elements. You’ll be provided with a shipping label to mail them in too. A calculator is provided on the website to help you figure out your reward.
Your old LEGO elements will then be reused in play, but the website does not disclose exactly how they will be used as this is only a test.
Those with plenty of old LEGO pieces and minifigures lying around will be able to take advantage of this program and some locations are offering in-store drop-ins as well. Those locations include Denver and Atlanta in the US and nowhere in Germany at the time of writing.
This campaign is being operated for and on behalf of the LEGO Group by Pentatonic Ltd and while the website states that this is only on for a limited time, an end date has not been stated.
