LEGO builds on success of first LEGO Store in Ireland with second Dublin location

The LEGO Group is gearing up to open a second LEGO Store in Ireland, following the success of its Grafton Street store in Dublin.

The new bricks-and-mortar store will also be situated in Dublin, just outside the city in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. It’s due to open in October this year, and will feature all the hallmarks of any good LEGO Store, including a Pick a Brick wall, Build a Minifigure station and ‘hands-on play opportunities’, reports the Irish Independent.

“The launch of the LEGO store on Grafton Street in 2022 proved how loved the LEGO brand is here in Ireland, so we are absolutely delighted to be bringing a second store to the Irish market this autumn,” said LEGO Group Director of EMEA Marketing Amy Pearson. “The new LEGO store in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre will allow builders of all ages to be inspired by the endless play opportunities LEGO has to offer.

“This store will be a top retail destination for product launches and events, while acting as a hub for our tenured LEGO community and new builders alike, welcoming them to an exciting journey of discovery with the LEGO universe.”

The Grafton Street LEGO Store opened in August 2022, and reportedly recorded revenues of €4.05m in its first 19 weeks of trading – an average of €213,547 per week. That enthusiasm has clearly given the LEGO Group the confidence it needs to open a second store in Dublin, this time away from the high street and in a shopping centre. It sounds like this branch will be a more traditional LEGO Store, however, rather than offering the ‘retailtainment’ experience of its flagship locations.

The official opening date and in-store events and freebies will apparently be announced soon, so keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for updates on the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre LEGO Store.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
