LEGO Star Wars Captain Rex’s pauldron comes to Pick a Brick today

More than 250 new LEGO elements are coming to Pick a Brick today, including a surprising LEGO Star Wars minifigure accessory.

Captain Rex’s cloth pauldron is among the 252 new pieces joining the online Pick a Brick service for February 2024, making more easily accessible a piece that is otherwise available exclusively in 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser. The Phase II Rex minifigure in last year’s flagship LEGO Star Wars set is rumoured to return in a Microfighter this summer, and grabbing his pauldron from Pick a Brick feels like a great way to ensure you have the best version of Rex in your collection.

Previous Microfighter minifigures have arrived sans cloth elements, after all – so while the version of the Clone Trooper in 75391 Captain Rex’s Y-wing Microfighter is said to be identical to the one included with the Venator, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it lacking the black and blue pauldron. But you can sidestep that potential pitfall by picking up the pauldron from Pick a Brick as of today.

As well as Rex’s pauldron, the new assortment includes plenty of interesting pieces from 2023’s 21343 Viking Village, including minifigure torsos, weapons and accessories – such as helmets and shields – along with printed tiles and heads. Also in the mix are the egg element printed with a bee pattern from 21342 The Insect Collection, sand green pistols, roller coaster track from 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition and more.

A handful of these pieces actually debuted early last week, including the tan candle elements from LEGO Harry Potter – ever useful in that colour, and joined today by lime green variants – and the white fern that also debuted in 21343 Viking Village. But the full roll-out is happening today (the LEGO Group says the new parts will drop at 11am GMT), so keep an eye on Pick a Brick and check out the table below for a summary of some of the highlights.

The next Pick a Brick update is expected to arrive on March 5, with selected elements from the November 2023 releases (such as 76269 Avengers Tower) joining the parts service. The LEGO Group says it will share the particular pieces coming in March later this week, so keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more.

Update: Most of the new elements are listed on Pick a Brick now, but not all of them are in stock: Captain Rex’s pauldron (priced at £6.07) has been out of stock all week, for example, while other pieces (including most of the Viking minifigure parts) have sold quickly. Keep checking Pick a Brick regularly for fresh restocks.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

It’s not up on Pick a Brick yet, but there’s quite a few pieces coming this month not on the service just yet. I’m expecting another update before the end of the month with the rest of them.
