The LEGO Group has officially unveiled its latest Ideas gift-with-purchase and castle-themed set, the long-awaited 40912 Sea Serpent.
Available from July 7 with qualifying purchases at LEGO.com, 40912 Sea Serpent is a reworking of the 1992 classic 6057 Sea Serpent, courtesy of LEGO Ideas user HallowedBrick02. The model took pole position in a 2025 LEGO Ideas contest themed around nostalgia and is finally sailing into stores next month.
The original build used 250 pieces while the finished model includes just 241, and it’s clear that there have been some pretty substantial changes here. The brick-built sail has been replaced by a fabric version, the rear of the boat is built at angles rather than squared-off, and the minifigure line-up has shifted quite drastically.

HallowedBrick02's original design.
Instead of the three retro Black Knights soldiers as originally pitched, the final model includes two modernised versions that reuse the Griffin Knight torso with dark blue arms instead of dark red. The real highlight here is the newly-printed shield, which is based on the mould first introduced in 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1. There are two in the box and they’re currently exclusive to this gift-with-purchase.
The LEGO Group hasn’t confirmed the qualifying threshold for 40912 Sea Serpent yet, but the timing of its launch may coincide with this year’s LEGO Insiders Days event, which typically takes place in July. We’ll confirm the spend required as soon as we get it.
