Every LEGO Classic Space astronaut colour – May 2025

Following a vote for LEGO Classic Space astronaut colours in 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, there are more minifigures than ever before.

June 1, 2025, is going to be a big day for LEGO Classic Space collectors, with two new colours being released, and two important parts coming to finish another colour at long last.

Ahead of the launch of 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine and 71499 Mateo’s Spray Paint Truck, here’s an updated guide to every colour of Classic Space minifigure, even when you need to source the parts from multiple models.

Blue

The classic blue astronaut is one of the most common variants, thanks in no small part to Benny in The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Unfortunately, any movie-based minifigures come with intentional decorative damage and finding a pristine print for the torso isn’t easy. Blue legs and the smiling yellow face are both common in previous and current LEGO sets, and the only issue is the torso, oxygen tanks and helmet.

An undamaged blue torso and tanks are featured in 850423 Minifigure Presentation Boxes from 2012 and can otherwise be found in limited-edition minifigure packs. The classic helmet in blue was most recently featured in NINJAGO’s 71708 Gamer’s Market from 2020.

Blue Spacebaby

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71037 Series 24 review Brown Astronaut and Spacebaby 6

The blue Spacebaby debuted in 71037 Series 24’s Brown Astronaut and Spacebaby and has appeared in 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad and 40786 Micro Command Centre since.

Dark blue

By combining the new Dreamling from 71499 Mateo’s Spray Paint Truck, the exclusive dark blue torso from last year’s Build a Minifigure DREAMZzz selection, and some blue hands as well as legs, you’ll have a complete dark blue astronaut. It’s a lot of effort to go to, but at least the journey will be complete when 71499 Mateo’s Spray Paint Truck launches next month.

White

The white LEGO Classic Space astronaut is exceedingly common, and you might already have one in your collection. They’re not available in any current sets, but their torso, helmet, tanks and every other necessary element have been the most common pick for designers when choosing a Classic Space colour to reference the theme.

White Spacebaby

40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad is home to a rare white Spacebaby astronaut as well, pairing perfectly with any of the white minifigures you already have.

Red

LEGO ICONS 10497 Galaxy Explorer 46 1024x576

The red Classic Space astronaut has been similarly common, most recently appearing in 10497 Galaxy Explorer from the LEGO Group’s 90th-anniversary range.

Yellow

Whether they’re wearing a spacesuit or not, the yellow Classic Space astronaut is featured in the retired and popular 70841 Benny’s Space Squad from The LEGO Movie 2 range.

Black

The black LEGO Classic Space Astronaut is featured completely in the limited-edition 5000438 Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 from 2012. You’ll need the retired 71460 Mr. Oz’s Spacebus and its black classic helmet to complete the minifigure, though.

Green

The green LEGO Classic Space astronaut will require multiple models to complete. LEGO Ideas 21109 Exo Suit from 2014 has most of the minifigure, apart from the classic helmet. Thankfully 80054 Megapolis City 5th Anniversary has precisely that colour of helmet to complete the minifigure.

Light grey

The light grey astronaut is the most difficult to complete by far. You’ll need at least four models to finish this minifigure, and the most recent is 71018 Series 17’s Rocket Boy, wearing a standard light grey classic space torso.

Light grey oxygen tanks are in 2004’s 7047 Coast Watch HQ, and light grey legs can be found in 3420 Championship Challenge II from 2002. The helmet remains the most challenging part of the minifigure, featured in the iconic 375 Castle or 6075 Castle from 1978 and 1981, respectively.

Pink

The pink astronaut also debuted in 70841 Benny’s Space Squad, making The LEGO Movie 2 model a must-have for collectors.

Pink Spacebaby

A pink Spacebaby is featured exclusively in 71046 Series 26 Space, but only with the baby face, not a smaller version of the classic smiling face as other Spacebaby figures have had.

Orange

The orange Classic Space astronaut minifigure was originally available in the LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History book, but isn’t hard to complete through other means thanks to 40687 Alien Space Diner and the orange tanks available on Pick a Brick.

Purple

The purple astronaut is another with parts scattered around various sets, including 80111 Lunar New Year Parade, 40516 Everyone is Awesome and 71032 Series 22, save for the printing on the arms. Switching those out makes up a complete purple astronaut.

Brown

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71037 Series 24 Brown Astronaut and Spacebaby 749x1024

The Brown astronaut is a dedicated minifigure in 71037 Series 24 with everything you need to represent this colour in one place. It even comes with a blue Spacebaby.

Teal

LEGO Ideas 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine is about to debut two new colours of Classic Space astronaut, starting with two teal minifigures as voted on by fans.

Gold

There’s also two pearl gold astronaut minifigures in 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, but these two colours were almost some other hues entirely.

Honourable mentions

Three other colours were proposed for 21358 Minifigure Vending Machine, including a dark pink minifigure, a light blue minifigure and a lime minifigure. Whether we will see these designs included in a LEGO set in the future is unknown. For now, though, they’re the colours teased to us, but never released physically.

There’s also a tease for a red Spacebaby via 40767 Up-Scaled Baby Astronaut, realised only as an upscaled figure, at least for now.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
