The mystery second licensed series of Collectible Minifigures rumoured for 2023 is now said to be 71039 Marvel Series 2.
Initial reports pegged the third Collectible Minifigures series for September 2023 as belonging to a licence earlier this week, but at the time no specific IP was mentioned. Instagram user brick_clicker now claims the blind-boxed characters will be a follow-up to 2021’s 71031 Marvel Studios.
That’s blind-boxed rather than blind-bagged because this is also expected to be the first series to use the new sustainable packaging, which replaces traditional foil bags with cardboard boxes. That means you won’t be able to feel the packet to identify which character is inside.

There’s no word yet on where exactly in the Marvel universe these Collectible Minifigures will draw from, but 71031 Marvel Studios plugged a gap left by the Disney+ TV shows. It’s entirely possible that this second series could do the same, given several new superhero shows have debuted in the year and a half since.
For now, take all word of a second LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures series with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. Also rumoured for 2023 is a series celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney, following on from January’s 71037 Series 24.
