LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set provides the template for Tintin fan sequel
A fan designer has already made their own take on a semi-sequel to 21367 Tintin Moon Rocket, one that repurposes a recent LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set.
The 75th LEGO Ideas build will launch next week, with 21367 Tintin Moon Rocket based on Alexis Dos Santos (aka TKel86) winning submission. Ahead of the set’s arrival, yet another talented fan designer has created their own model inspired by the adventures of Hergé’s boy detective, one that utilises a surprising and existing LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set.
Vanestream on Rebrickable has taken last year’s 31165 Panda Family and used it the starting point for his own comic book-based model, Tintin’s Shark Submarine, The 2-in-1 diorama repurposes the various black and white elements from the 626-piece LEGO Creator 3-in-1 build and reconfigures them into the underwater craft seen in the classic 1944 story, Red Rackham’s treasure.

The fan-made MOC presents both the iconic predator-shaped vehicle itself and the option to rebuild the model as a shark diorama with its own colourful ocean base. In addition, adding two more separate transparent blue pieces to Tintin’s Shark Submarine will turn the set into a slightly different version of the craft.
If you want to try your hand at transforming a copy of 31165 Panda Family into Tintin’s Shark Submarine, PDF instructions for the fan-design can be purchased directly from Rebrickable for €4.99, although do note that you’ll need to wait for 21367 Tintin Moon Rocket to be released if you want to add a Tintin minifigure and Snowy figure.

21367 Tintin Moon Rocket will blast off on April 1 for £139.99 / $159.99 / €159.99, with pre-orders for the LEGO Ideas set live right now ands is reviewed here. 31165 Panda Family is still available to purchase, with the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 build priced at £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 and reviewed here.
