Wooden Duck has picked up on rumours that the Volkswagen Camper Van might return in a new and updated form, the T2 version. 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van was one of the longest-running sets, having been on sale for nine years.
The real-life T2 is not too different from the T1, with minor stylistic differences being the main distinguisher. The shape of the T2 is a little smoother and the front doesn’t have the well-known V-shape highlighting the logo. There are also fewer windows on the side and an updated grill on the hood.
If it’s true that we might be getting a brick-built T2 this summer, that could explain why 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van stopped production at the end of 2020. Just as LEGO Star Wars 75159 Death Star was retired ahead of rumours of an updated Death Star model, the same pattern could be happening with the beloved camper van.
We’ll keep you posted on whether these rumours are confirmed, as well as what differences we might expect to see between 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van and an upated T2 version.
