Two days ago, Amazon listed LEGO DC 76157 Wonder Woman vs Cheetah, a new set based on the upcoming film Wonder Woman 84. Yesterday, the LEGO Group requested that all images of the set be taken down, with legal request to follow should anyone not comply.
Just one day later, a number of retailers including Asda in the UK and Target in the US started to sell the set, which was still subject to the take-down request. A short while ago, the LEGO Group retracted the request for the images to be removed. It is an utterly bizarre situation, in which it seems the LEGO Group has shipped products for sale, but then decided images of them should not be circulating.
Here are the images of the set:
What is most surprising about this set is that the box effort goes to no effort to reveal what the toy itself is, instead focusing on the Wonder Woman 84 logo and the two main minifigures included in the set. It is another example of the LEGO Group experimenting with packaging design.
Wonder Woman 84 will be released on August 14, 2020.
